Cluny South PSYC 4700

Welcome to this Psychology Research Page for Cluny South's PSYC 4700 Psychology & Culture class!

I've gathered together some resources on this page that will hopefully make things a bit easier to find research and cite those academic sources for your class presentation, cultural field trip and research grant proposal.

So on this page you will find

  • key sources for finding psychology & culture research along with some search tips
  • cultural psychology research methods and grant writing resources
  • links to some resources on our APA guide

NOTE: The Surrey campus library has a copy of your textbook available for 3 day loan on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want to borrow it, just go to the Service Counter in the library and tell them you want to borrow the book Cultural Psychology that is on Course Reserve.

I'm just curious...have you searched for articles in the PsycINFO database before?

Some tips to make ARTICLE searching easier

Article Searching

PsycINFO

I imagine by 4th year most of you have used PsycINFO before. If not, you can find more information on how to use PsycINFO on the Searching PsycINFO Tips page of this guide. It is the biggest database of Psychology research articles out there, so is the best place to start your search to find Psychology & Culture related research articles.

PsycINFO search tip 1: Look at the Subjects to expand your search

If your initial keyword searches don't work...

  • try different search terms (think of different words that are related or mean the same thing)
  • look at the Subject words attached to articles you are finding that seem related to your topic - this will give you more search term ideas
  • use the the word "OR" and combine different words with similar meanings in each box to expand your search

PsycINFO search tip 2: Use the Folder option to save time

Click on the Folder icon beside articles of interest to save them while you search. Before you leave your search, click on the larger Folder icon in the top menu to select the articles you want to email to yourself. That email will include a permalink and APA citation for the article. Sometimes the full-text of the article will also be included. This will help you keep track of all the articles you come across as you search, read, and refine your searches.

Ready to try searching? The database link is below! The Library pays a subscription for students to have access to PsycINFO, so if you are off campus you'll need to use your KPU login to access the database.
