Library Resources for Remote Delivery

Embedding library resources into your online course & Moodle site

Welcome

This guide was developed to help you in providing course materials to your students in the upcoming semesters. Even with the disruption of face to face instruction and library operations, you still have lots of options for course materials.

We can help you get started by finding, linking to, or embedding resources that we have already licensed for student use, or that are free to use under an Open license. Examples are:

  • Ebooks
  • Open Educational Resources
  • Scholarly journal articles
  • Journal table of contents with full text access
  • Subject searches in databases
  • Summon search box
  • Streaming Video

Librarians are here to help! For questions about subject specific library resources to support your online courses, please consult your liaison librarian. Or contact us through our help form at https://www.kpu.ca/library/services/askalibrarian.

See it in action! The Library maintains a Moodle site that shows you examples of what links can look like. It is open to guests. To see our Moodle site:

  1. Go to https://courses.kpu.ca/course/view.php?id=781
  2. Use your KPU ID to see how embedded resources can expand your course site!

Library Subject Guides - library in a Box!

There are two ways to feature the subject guide put together by KPU liaison librarians:

  1. Select the guides that aligns with your area. Copy the URL and place it in your Moodle site - see examples at https://courses.kpu.ca/course/view.php?id=781&section=2. You do not need to ask us permission to link to a library subject guide!
  2. Embed the guide directly into your Moodle site using LTI technology. Contact Caroline if you wish to do this.
