It is advisable to make links (rather than copies) wherever possible.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University Library subscribes to a large number of subscription databases. The agreements that the Kwantlen Library negotiates with its database vendors allow use of licensed material for research, instruction, and educational purposes. Commercial use of licensed material is not allowed under the terms of our database licences. Generally the licence terms, in most cases, allow you to print or download a copy of an article for yourself and to post persistent links to journal articles from your course website or through Library e-reserve. We do provide specific licensing information on our database list - you can find a list of all of our research databases at
You can see examples of what embedded article links look like in a Moodle course by checking out the Library Moodle course. Login as a guest.
For questions or help with persistent links contact Caroline Daniels at 604.599.3036 or by email at caroline.daniels@kpu.ca.
It is possible to link to specific articles within our article indexes. The process differs depending on the database and the platform used by the vendor.
Choose the database and find out how to create the secure link. Can't find the instructions for the database? Contact caroline.daniels@kpu.ca.
Moodle instructions: choose "URL" when adding an online article link to your course.
