Library News For Students: Fall 2020

Welcome to your Fall 2020 semester!

KPU Library warmly welcomes returning and new students to a new academic year.

This newsletter is to let you know about some of the library services available to you. Like the rest of the University, we have had to modify the way we offer our services. We are still here! But now, most of our services are offered online.

The library is where you get research help and materials like books, articles, journals, and reports. It is also the place to get information on citation and how to research. You can do this all through kpu.ca/library.

Much of our collection is accessible online, and you can search using the options at kpu.ca/library. We have a video that explains the basics of searching called Library Resources for Students.

If you need a book, CD or DVD from the library’s physical collection, you can place a request for an item for pick-up using our catalogue. Visit Borrowing Collection Material  for instructions.

We also have laptops available for KPU students to borrow, subject to availability. Visit Borrowing Equipment for information.

You apply online through the library for your KPU Card. We encourage you to only apply for your KPU Card if you need it since you have to visit campus to pick it up. Visit KPU Card for details.

Most importantly, anytime you need help, visit Ask Us and choose your mode of contact. You can call, text, email or use the AskAway chat. We reply as soon as we can, and welcome any question you may have about using the library and its resources. You also have your very own Liaison Librarian, who specializes in the resources available in your discipline. You can email them for subject specific questions and one-to-one help.

There is a library at Langley, Richmond, Surrey and Tech campuses. Our spaces are open, but with reduced hours and very limited capacity. We do not provide in-person service at this time, except for appointments. We ask that you follow the current Health Authority guidelines, such as physical distancing, if you choose to visit our space in person.

For any question regarding our services during COVID, check out KPU Library COVID-19 Response Guide. It is the best place to look for the most up to date information on accessing the library during the pandemic.

Best wishes for a great semester!
