Borrowing Equipment

The library's equipment lending service has been suspended. However, there are select items that can still be requested.  

Equipment currently available for lending, subject to availability:

  • Laptops (for KPU students)
  • Teaching & Learning equipment (arranged with Teaching & Learning)
  • Department-owned equipment (prearranged with the library)

All equipment must be returned at our Service Desks during our hours of operation by appointment.  Please do not return equipment in our book return bins. Laptops loaned for the fall semester have a due date of December 17, 2020. See below for more details.

If you are KPU Faculty, please submit any technology/equipment requests you have through Teaching & Learning. The library is working with Teaching & Learning and the IT Department to get any equipment needed to teach online out to faculty.

Please note that you must have your KPU Card to borrow equipment, and you have to come to campus to borrow and return library material. We ask that you please adhere to KPU's COVID-19 policies, such as mask wearing and physical distancing, while in our spaces.

How to borrow Student Laptops

  1. Fill out a Laptop Request Form to be added to the waitlist, selecting the campus you wish to pick up at (KPU Tech is not available as an option at this time).
  2. You will receive an email to your KPU email account when your item has been approved. You must make an appointment to pick up your material. Use the instructions in this email, selecting a date and time.
  3. Bring your KPU Card to your pick-up appointment. Don’t have one yet? Make sure to apply online ahead of time.
  4. We'll do a check of the laptop with you before you borrow it.

New laptop requests for Spring 2021 semester will open on December 3. Students must be registered in courses to be eligible. Please do not submit multiple requests. Requests are processed in the order they are received, so additional submissions will not get you a laptop faster. Only KPU Students registered in courses are eligible for this service.

How to return Student Laptops

  1. You'll receive a courtesy reminder notice by email before your laptop is due. Use the link and instructions in this email to book an appointment to return. You must book an appointment to return the laptop. 
  2. Bring the laptop to one of our library’s Service Desks at your appointment time and location. You cannot return equipment using our Book Return bins. 
  3. Phone the number posted at the Service Desk. A staff person will come to assist you.
  4. We'll do a preliminary check of the laptop with you before it is quarantined for 5 days.  After the quarantine period, a second more detailed check will be done.

Our Student Laptop loan period is for the semester. Laptops loaned for the fall semester have a due date of December 17, 2020.

Laptop Renewals

Currently have a laptop and want to renew it for Spring 2021? Laptop renewal requests will open on December 3, 2020. You will be contacted by the library if your request is approved.
