KPU Library and KPU’s Department of Geography and the Environment organized events to mark the fifth annual GIS Day @ KPU on Nov 16, 2022. GIS Day is an annual worldwide celebration for users of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). GIS Day @ KPU brought together KPU GIS enthusiasts who discussed the many benefits of this amazing technology.

GIS Day began with an Introduction to Mapping with Excel workshop, led by KPU Geographer Dr. Parthi Krishna. Workshop participants gained hands-on experience using the unique mapping features available in Excel.

GIS Day also featured a keynote presentation by Stuart Jones – Senior Planner, City of Surrey. Stuart delivered an informative presentation on the land use-based development model for the City of Surrey.

The GIS presentations were followed by a meet-and-greet networking session where KPU students and faculty with an interest in GIS had the opportunity to share ideas. KPU Library looks forward to hosting future annual GIS Day events.
