Commit to reconciliation for Orange Shirt Day

by Kelsey Chaban on 2025-09-22T13:17:41-07:00 | 0 Comments

hand-sized orange paper shirts hanging in a curtain surrounding sign for activitySeptember 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. The orange shirt is a symbol that acknowledges the intergenerational impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, and it honours the healing journeys of survivors and their families and their communities. It is a time to renew commitments to reconciliation and to educate yourself on the past and present experiences of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Visit a KPU campus library and reflect and write down an action, thought, or commitment for reconciliation on a paper orange shirt that we will display at Surrey campus library for September 30th. Submit as many as you'd like and help inspire reflection and change by sharing your words. Thank you to those who have already contributed!

Look for this poster and paper shirts at the library!
